Winter Blanket Tips
Using blankets for your horse in the winter sounds like a fairly simple and straightforward proposition. But it’s not. Blankets differ in quality, types, fitting and how they fasten to the horse. Internationally recognized Animal Communicator Joyce Leake is coming back to Spirit Horse Center for a weekend-long workshop, March 10-11. Annual Tack Swap is January 29
Pull together your little-used tack or horse-related items and bring it to Spirit Horse Center for our Annual Tack Swap, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 29. This is a great chance to pass along your tack to someone who might need some but can’t afford to buy new. It’s also a great shopping opportunity for those looking for some great deals. Affordable gift ideas for your favorite horse lover
Having a hard time thinking of gifts for the horse lover in your house? Try these:
- Hoof picks
- Sponges and sweat scrapers
- Rags and towels
- Custom-made coolers (patterns are online – we recommend polar fleece)
- Horse treats – Carrots and apples, or recipes are online
- Framed photos of the horse or the person and his/her horse
- A massage for the horse
- Gift certificates to feed or fleet stores
- Fancy or cute saddle pads

Little Spirits Day Camp set for Christmas break
Four more Little Spirits Day Camps are scheduled for the rest of this school year, including one during Christmas break: Thursday, Dec. 29. The camp runs from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. If your kids are interested in spending some time at the barn, learning about horses, getting riding lessons and generally having a blast, then sign them up today. Spirit Horse Center is hosting two more clinics and retreats in the coming months, including a Women’s Retreat with Melisa Pearce May 5-6 and the Natural Horsemanship Clinic with Anna Twinney Oct. 12-14.
